How do you make your own minecraft mods and texture packs for free?
I want to know how to make my mods and texture packs for free buy I’m not a very experienced java programmer yet given as I’m still learning. If someone could find a good way I would be extremely greatful.
I have heard of a program called MyCraft but it looks like programming stuff.
Thanks in advance:D
Well, making texture packs is fairly easy, a polar opposite to modding.
To make a texture pack simply extract whatever you want to modify from the minecraft.jar file (using Winrar of 7zip). The “terrain” folder contains the sun and moon, “mob” contains mob skins, “misc” has a few things that you might want to change, “item” has a few things such as signs and doors, “gui” has popups like the inside of a chest, workbench or furnace [also contains "items.png"], “environment” has rain (removed), snow (removed) and clouds, “art” has paintings and “armor” has armor skins. “items.png” is the image for drops/items as appearing while held and “terrain.png” [NOT in the terrain folder, just in amongst the coding] is the image for blocks/things as they appear in the world. Those two will be the files that you want to edit the most.) I think that all of those will will contain anything you’ll want to change. After extracting them, edit their contents (using an image editor that supports blank areas, MS Paint is not one of these, I recommend Paint.NET, it’s free and a brilliant editor) and put them into a new .zip file and put the .zip into the “texturepacks” folder in .minecraft. (I’m assuming that you know what all these are.) Make sure that the files are directly in the .zip, not in a folder in the .zip. After you have done this, your texture pack should appear in “Mods & Texture Packs” in the game itself, and when you select it everything in the texture pack should override their equivalents in minecraft.jar.
As for modding, I have NO IDEA. You have to mod Java itself, which is awkejghlsjdgsa. Put simply, if you want something changed, look for someone else’s mod, most things are covered by others.
how to install minecraft mods and have the really work?
I have been googling this for ever now. as i follow the instructions on how to do it, it some how never works. its annoying as heck to read and watch people install and play with the mods so easily yet i can never get them working. only thing i can do Nearly is install texture packs. some one, anyone plz i beg of you, plz help me with my problem. any good advice will be appreciated greatly.
First off 99% of the question regarding how to install mods for minecraft and about black screens has to do with the capability of the mod and minecraft version.
1) Make sure the mod is updated for the current version of Minecraft. As of now it is 1.2_02
2) Download the mods then extract them using WinRAR
3) Locate minecraft.jar
4) Open it with WinRAR by right clicking on it
5) Just drag and drop the mod’s .class files and folders into minecraft.jar
-Some mods may require more installation instructions, for that you’ll have to read their guide, this is a general guide
If black screen occurs then the mod is not compatible with Minecraft version you have.
