Basic

NAME	INPUT » OUTPUT	DESCRIPTION
PLANKS		Used as a building material and can be crafted into many things.
STICKS		Used for torches, arrows, signs, ladders, fences and as handles for tools.
TORCHES		Used to generate light. Torches also melt snow.
WORKBENCH		Allows for use of the 3×3 crafting grid.
FURNACE		Allows for the smelting of ores and cooking of food.
CHEST		Stores stacks of items inside. Two chests make a large chest when you put one next to another.

Blocks

NAME	INPUT » OUTPUT	DESCRIPTION
ORE BLOCKS		Allows bars to be crafted into placeable blocks. Full blocks can also be crafted into 9 bars again.
CLOTH BLOCK		Used as a building material. Cloth can also be obtained from Sheep.
TNT BLOCK		Used to cause explosions. Gunpowder can be obtained from Creepers.
STEPS		Used for half block steps. Two half blocks on top of each other create a full-sized block.
STAIRS		Used for full block stairs.
SNOW BLOCK		Used for storing snowballs (since it takes up less space) or as a building material.
CLAY BLOCK		Used to store clay and as an alternate to Stone.
BRICK BLOCK		Used as a building material.

Tools

NAME	INPUT » OUTPUT	DESCRIPTION
AXES		Used to chop wood-related blocks faster than by hand.
PICKAXES		Required to mine stone-related blocks and ore.
SHOVELS		Used to dig Dirt, Grass, Sand, Gravel and Snow faster than by hand. Shovels are also required to dig snowballs.
HOES		Used to till Dirt blocks to find seeds and/or prepare for Crops.
FLINT AND STEEL		Used to create a Fire.
BUCKET		Used to transport water, lava and milk.

Weapons

NAME	INPUT » OUTPUT	DESCRIPTION
SWORDS		When equipped, makes your attacks more powerful on Mobs than by hand.
BOW		Allows for ranged attacks by using arrows. String can be found fromSpiders.
ARROWS		Used as ammunition for bows. Feathers can be found from Chickens andZombies. Arrows also light on fire when fired through lava, although flaming arrows don’t have any other effect.

Armor

Note that Chainmail armor is also craftable, but only by hacking Fire blocks into your inventory and crafting them.

HELMETS		Head armor, gives 1.5 armor points.
CHESTPLATES		Chest armor, gives 4 armor points.
LEGGINGS		Leg armor, gives 3 armor points.
BOOTS		Foot armor, gives 1.5 armor points.

Transportation

NAME	INPUT » OUTPUT	DESCRIPTION
MINECART		Used to transport the player along Minecart tracks.
POWERED MINECART		Used to push other Minecarts along Minecart tracks.
STORAGE MINECART		Used to transport goods along Minecart tracks.
MINECART TRACKS		Used to direct Minecarts.
BOAT		Used to travel in water quicker than by swimming. When crashed you receive 3 planks and 2 sticks. You must be going a certain speed to crash. You will know when water begins flying from the sides of the boat.

Mechanics

NAME	INPUT » OUTPUT	DESCRIPTION
DOORS		Wooden doors activated by right clicking. Iron doors can only be activated with Buttons, Levers, Pressure Plates, or Redstone Torches.
PRESSURE PLATES		Used to activate objects by being stepped on. Wooden Pressure Plates can also be activated by having something dropped on them.
STONE BUTTON		Used to activate objects by being pressed. Activates for a few seconds before shutting off again. Works on both sides of a door.
REDSTONE TORCH		Used to activate objects and power Redstone Wires. Is always on.
LEVER		Used to activate and deactivate objects. Only works on one side of the door (2 levers don’t work on 1 door)

Food

NAME	INPUT » OUTPUT	DESCRIPTION
BOWLS		Used to hold Mushroom Stew. You gain this back when you eat the stew.
MUSHROOM STEW		Heals 5 hearts. The ordering of the red and brown mushrooms does not matter.
BREAD		Heals 2.5 hearts.
GOLDEN APPLE		Heals all 10 hearts.

Miscellaneous

NAME	INPUT » OUTPUT	DESCRIPTION
PAINTING		Used as decoration.
SIGN		Shows text inputted by the player. In survival multiplayer, other players can’t see the text.
LADDER		Used to climb vertically.
PAPER		Used to create books.
BOOK		Used to create a bookshelf.
BOOKSHELF		Used as decoration.
JUKEBOX		Plays a song when you use a record on it. Records can be acquired by killing a Creeper or from chests in Dungeons.
FENCES		Used as a barrier. Can not be jumped over. It counts as 1½ block high for mobs/players, but only 1 for other blocks.
